In collaboration with several European partner institutes, an new version of the portable laboratory unit known as “TRACI”(1) is being developed. The objective is a reduction of costs and geometrical dimension combined with an enhanced reliability.
In parallel, studies on the substitution of the primary chiller based on a standard refrigerant with a CO2 primary chiller are also on-going.
In collaboration with GSI (Darmstad, De) a new enlarged version of the “TRACI” concept, capable of refrigerating powers up to the order of 1 kW (“TRACI-XL”) is also being prototyped.
Continuous testing and validation of available components specific for CO2appearing on the market – with particular attention to continuous flow pumps – is also ongoing.
